TG Meter: How We Score Telegram Channels & Groups
TG Meter is TGram Channels’s own 0–100 score for Telegram channels and groups. It combines five signals we measure ourselves, so you can compare communities at a glance — and it never uses numbers we cannot verify.
The five signals
| Signal | Weight | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Reach | 25% | Audience size compared with other listings of the same type and category. |
| Growth | 20% | Measured subscriber change over the last 30 days (or 7 days). |
| Engagement | 20% | How many subscribers actually view recent posts. |
| Activity | 15% | How recently and how often new posts appear. |
| Trust | 20% | Verified ownership, member reviews, upheld reports, link health and irregular growth. |
How each signal is scored
- Reach
- Where the subscriber count sits among all listings of the same type (60%) and within the same category (40%), on a logarithmic scale — so a 5,000-member niche community can still score well against its peers. Counts older than 90 days are not used.
- Growth
- Measured change over 30 days (or 7 days), converted to a weekly rate: shrinking 5% a week scores 0, flat scores 45, +2% a week scores 80 and +10% scores 100. A single day of history counts for much less. A sudden jump of more than 30% (and over 5,000 subscribers) between two measurements is flagged as irregular and caps this signal.
- Engagement (channels)
- The median views of recent public posts divided by subscribers. 2% scores 30, 5% scores 55, 10% scores 75, 20% or more scores 90+. Channels with many subscribers but few readers score low here.
- Activity (channels)
- How recently the last post appeared (a post within a day scores 100; nothing for 90 days scores 0), blended with how many posts appear per week.
- Trust
- Starts at 60. Verified ownership adds 15; at least three member reviews move it up or down with the confidence-weighted rating; each upheld abuse report subtracts 12; a working link adds 5; irregular growth subtracts 10. A broken link sets trust to 0 and caps the whole score at 20.
Missing data and confidence
If a signal has not been measured yet, it is left out and the remaining weights are re-balanced — we never fill gaps with estimates. Each score shows a confidence level based only on what was actually measured: High when at least 80% of the possible signals have real data and the subscriber count is less than a week old, Medium from 50%, otherwise Low. A listing with no reviews, verification or link check gets a neutral trust value that does not count as evidence. When little has been measured, the score is pulled toward the middle (50) — a big channel cannot score “Excellent” on size alone; it has to earn it with growth, engagement and activity. Groups have no public post views, so they are rated on reach, growth and trust.

What TG Meter is not
It is not an endorsement, a safety check or a member rating, and sponsored placements never change it. Scores are recalculated automatically as new measurements arrive.
